The Aurizon Community Giving Fund has been supporting charitable organisations from across our areas of operations since 2011, and in that time, we have supported over 630 organisations with projects that help to deliver tangible benefits to their local communities.
Through a grant from the previous round of the Community Giving Fund awarded in December 2023, we supported an organisation in Western Australia called SecondBite and their More meals for Esperance project. Aurizon funding is being utilised towards the setup of the SecondBite program through a local service provider, and towards the purchase of food items to be delivered to the local community to help improve access to free nutritious food for community members experiencing hunger.
Recently Sam Treleaven, Aurizon Regional Operations Manager for Bulk West met with SecondBite WA State Manager Lyndon Nilsson, and the CEO of Esperance Care Services Chris Meyer at SecondBite’s warehouse facility in Kewdale. Lyndon Nilsson, State Manager for WA for SecondBite thanked Aurizon for their generous support:
“SecondBite and Esperance Care Services are incredibly grateful for the support provided by the Aurizon Community Benefit Fund. These funds will enable SecondBite to provide Esperance Care Services (ECS) with long-life products for their Emergency Relief service, for the people of Esperance. ECS essentially acts as a community ‘hub’, meaning that the food we provide will be further distributed to other smaller charities in the Goldfields-Esperance region, helping to support more people in the area who need food support during these tough times”.
The next round of the Community Giving Fund will be opening for applications in mid-September. If you know a local charity that would benefit from support from the fund, tell them to check the eligibility criteria available on our website at www.aurizon.com.au/cgf
Successful applications from the next round will be awarded in mid-December 2024.
